Seven wonders were known in the ancient world. Today, UNESCO recognises more than 900 world heritage sites: masterpieces of architecture built by man and phenomenal monuments of nature. 'Magical places' such as these are the subject of an exhibition at the Gasometer in Oberhausen. At the centre of the Gasometer is a towering 'rainforest tree', 40 metres tall, which forms part of a dramatic light and sound installation created especially for the exhibition.
