In collaboration with the National Institute of Design (NID) and Uanimate, Goethe-Institute Kolkata is organising a series of short animation films from Germany and India using a variety of mediums. They include short contemporary animation films from NID, a package of international animation films from DOK Leipzig and a selection from the German Film Archive.

The exhibition 'Frozen in Time. Photographs of Dance' at the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore comprises 50 photographs – both colour and black and white – and a video installation of selected dance photographers and artists from Germany. Represented by internationally famous dance companies like William Forsythe and Sasha Waltz, the installation offers a glimpse into an artform that hovers between documentation and artistic autonomy.

Jazz came to Germany in the '20s, was prohibited under Hitler’s “Third Reich”, and was a symbol for freedom and democracy after the War. It became independent from its American archetypes in the '60s and today the music scene in Germany is incomplete without this type of music. The exhibition refers to the history of jazz, as well as the contemporary scene. This exhibition of the Goethe-Institut was produced in collaboration with Dr. Wolfram Knauer, Director of the Jazz Institute in Darmstadt, Germany.
