After successful tours to Karachi (Pakistan) and Kolkata, Distance and Proximity now comes to Delhi. Distance and Proximity is an exhibition of photographs by Bernd and Hilla Becher and their former students of the art of photography at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art. Bernd Becher, from 1976 to 1996 professor at the Academy of Art in Düsseldorf, Hilla Becher and a number of their former students are the most influential photographers of our time, and major artists on the international scene.

The exhibition by the ifa (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations) in Delhi's Vadehra Art Gallery presents 76 works, some of them extra large. The selection reflects both the artists' shared approach to the chosen motifs and their artistic position.

IFAThe World as One - Photography from Germany after 1989

Mumbai: 1st August - 30th September 2008


An exhibition presented by the German Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (‘Institute for Foreign Relations’), with an introduction by the Curator Ulf Erdmann Ziegler. The World as One comprises of a representative sample of ‘90s professional documentary photography in colour. 17 groups of works by 19 photographers born between 1955 and 1971 will be on view.
