Spotlighting Michael Ballhaus, Germany’s best-known cinematographer, Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore screens movies from his early German phase, when he worked with Rainer Werner Fassbinder. His work with Fassbinder began in 1970 and it was at this time that Ballhaus developed his unique style. Indian cinematographer Sunny Joseph opens the series with an introductory talk on Michael Ballhaus, entitled Eye to Eye - the Cinematographic Art of Michael Ballhaus.

IFAThe World as One - Photography from Germany after 1989

Bangalore: 5th - 19th April 2008
Mumbai: 1st August - 30th September 2008


An exhibition presented by the German Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (‘Institute for Foreign Relations’), with an introduction by the Curator Ulf Erdmann Ziegler. The World as One comprises of a representative sample of ‘90s professional documentary photography in colour. 17 groups of works by 19 photographers born between 1955 and 1971 will be on view.
