July 15, 2009 At Nuernberg Station the science express greeted its 100,000th visitor. The 300 meters long mobile science exhibition, organised by the German Ministry for Education and Research was stationed at a special platform in Nurnberg from the 12 to 14 July. The Minister for Education and Research, Annette Schavan who initiated the science express congratulated the 100,000th visitor. “Science and Research are the foundations of tomorrow. Our future is being shaped by research carried out today” she said. Complex themes such as climate change, future mega cities and energy deficit are explained through the unique exhibits, arresting visuals and interactive elements on board the 12 compartments set up by the Max-Planck Society and several other partners. The compartment called “discover and be amazed” is especially popular amongst the youth as they learn about the latest research methods by participating in experiments in the interactive laboratory. “The huge popularity of the science express among students and youth proves that an interest and fascination with science and research still exists” Minister Schavan added. The train will stop at 38 more cities giving more people a glimpse into the future. Each visitor will be given a stamp in the expedition pass for the Science Year 2009. Whoever has a minimum of five stamps could win a real pass on the polar ship expedition with the Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research. Also read:
