      India's Anshu Jain appointed co-Chairman of Deutsche Bank
Deutsche Bank's supervisory board met on Monday, 25 July, and decided on a new leadership for the Bank. The current head of investment banking at Deutsche Bank, India-born Anshu Jain has been named co-Chairman with regional management chief Jürgen Fitschen. Germany's Bayer has set up a pilot plant at Chempark Leverkusen to produce high-quality plastics with the help of carbon dioxide from the energy sector. The plant produces a chemical precursor into which CO2 is incorporated and then processed into polyurethanes that are used in many everyday items. As a result, CO2 – a waste gas and key contributor to climate change – can now be recycled and used as a raw material and substitute for petroleum. more

New York's stock exchange operator NYSE Euronext plans to merge with its German counterpart Deutsche Boerse in Frankfurt to create the world's largest exchange group, company officials announced on Tuesday, 15th February. The merger, highly anticipated since both companies announced their plans last week, has been approved by the boards of both exchange owners and awaits the approval of stockholders and regulators. more
