Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is beginning a three-day trip to India on Wednesday, November 19. The main focus of his talks will be the global financial crisis and the future role of India and other emerging economies, according to his spokesman. Although affected by the crisis, India’s financial situation is still reasonably stable.

On Tuesday, 18th November German Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel attended the opening of the first Indo-German Environment Forum in New Delhi. The two-day Forum aims at facilitating and strengthening partnerships in environment and climate change between Indian and German businesses in specific areas such as water and waste management, climate change and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), renewable energy, and energy efficiency.
