      India, Germany sign agreements for health and energy projects
In December 2008, India and Germany signed agreements to start off four important development projects funded by German Official Development Assistance amounting to over Rs. 33.2 billion. The projects are in the areas of renewable energy, power generation and immunisation and are being implemented in India by the KfW Entwicklungsbank.  read full story more

Germany is increasing its support for the international Law and Order Trust Fund for Afghanistan (LOTFA) by 3 million euro. BMW India to launch 7 Series in February 2009
German luxury car maker BMW India recently announced that it has achieved 100 per cent growth in its car sales for 2008. According to media reports, BMW India has already sold 2,703 cars till November and aims to sell 2,800 by the end of 2008 against 1,387 in 2007. more

German Development Minister wants new deal for the 21st Century
At the International Conference on Financing for Development in Doha, German Development Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul called on Western countries to live up to their aid pledges. She said, "The conference has clearly underlined that, even with the financial markets in crisis, the fight against poverty, hunger and child mortality remains at the top of the international agenda." more
