India, Germany sign agreements for health and energy projects
In December 2008, India and Germany signed agreements to start off four important development projects funded by German Official Development Assistance amounting to over Rs. 33.2 billion. The projects are in the areas of renewable energy, power generation and immunisation and are being implemented in India by the KfW Entwicklungsbank. read full story

• Germany increases support for police force in Afghanistan

Germany is increasing its support for the international Law and Order Trust Fund for Afghanistan (LOTFA) by 3 million euro. The funds will be used to establish and equip police stations, to finance pensions for surviving dependents and to improve the administrative structures for paying salaries.

• BMW India to launch 7 Series in February 2009

German luxury car maker BMW India recently announced that it has achieved 100 per cent growth in its car sales for 2008. According to media reports, BMW India has already sold 2,703 cars till November and aims to sell 2,800 by the end of 2008 against 1,387 in 2007.
